As another school year comes to a close, you as parents have played a major role in your child’s life as teacher. May is teacher appreciation month. So I thought I would share with you some pretty amazing people God used in my life to bring me to the point of serving you:
My Kindergarten teacher, Sister Knapp who was very strict but loving, laid the foundation for the rest of my education
My 5th & 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Bowling, who helped to develop my ability to memorize
My favorite HS science teacher, Mr. Cratsley, who gave me a love for Science
My great HS English teacher that made literature come alive, Mr. Tim McLaughlin
My HS Home Ec teacher, Mrs. Nancy Coburn Harris & a teacher friend/church youth leader, Leola Raymetz, that gave me a love for Home Ec
My college professors Dr Ennis & Lundie Carstensen that further developed the Proverbs 31 women in me through the Home Ec program at Christian Heritage College or now San Diego Christian College
To all my PE teachers that attempted to teach me how to be more athletic, thank you for noticing my heart to do my best even if I couldn’t learn to do a hand stand with the help of the wall.
A very special Jr High Bible teacher, whose name escapes me but I can picture her in my mind, that planted the seeds of Psalm 139:14 in my heart to help me see myself the way God does: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
And to my parents, James & Sandra Barrett, that instilled in me a love for Jesus at an early age and always encouraged me to grow in my abilities.
To you & to the many others that I liked & even to the ones that challenged my ability to like them but brought out in me the attribute of persistence, thank you, thank you, thank you! You inspired me to pursue teaching which I now use to help the homeschooling community.
Share with us that special teacher or coach and the reason why they are so special.
