It’s getting busy!!!!!
We are half way through July and the new school year for some begins in August and for others after Labor Day. No matter what your start date, the summer seems to be rolling right along at a fast pace!
It’s this fast pace that many times becomes overwhelming and may cause one to loose focus. Here at The Curriculum Exchange we are becoming busier as our heaviest month is also coming around the corner– August. Books are starting to come in more steadily and many more on the way. It’s a busy time, indeed. Continue reading

Our Best Advertising . . . . Word of Mouth
Last week I mentioned that one of our early blessings of peak season 2013 was the growing traffic of new customers due to word of mouth. Each season more and more people are told for the first time about our store. Yes, this may be a slower way to grow our business; yet, we have tried a couple of other types of more expensive, traditional marketing tools. But, our most effective method has been your word of mouth advertising! Plus, word of mouth is so much more personable as you share stories and experiences along with the details about our store.
We are grateful for everyone who hands out our business cards, the various flyers, shares our website or Facebook page or blog with friends and homeschooling groups. One mom hands them out as she shops at her local grocery store. Whenever she comes into the store, she mentions that she can’t keep enough business cards to last her between her visits to our store!! So to Vivian and people like her, we truly are blessed and humbled by your commitment to gladly spread the news about our store. Continue reading
Peak season officially started with our Tuesday One Day Sale on July 2nd. Then we were closed for the 4th of July making our next posted store hours, Tuesday, July 9. What a couple of days!! If these two days are signs of what we can expect during our official store hours, I had better buy some roller skates! Or not!! I may land flat on my face. But, I will be wearing some comfy shoes to scramble between customers, check-out & phone calls.
We are even more excited to see that these two days have also brought in SIX new consigners with some good, quality items bringing our total to 609. One of the comments we receive is how we stock so many good quality items along with our growing Bargain Wall. People even go as far to tell us that they find more in our small store than in some of the larger stores! Well, I can’t take much credit for that because it is one, God who brings us the consigners; and two, it is the consigner that trusts us to resell their items and most of the items come in good to excellent condition. Some even never used! Continue reading
As our 2013 Peak Season is literally at our door step, we have been busy reorganizing the layout and flow in the store to developing our social media footprint & advertising. This past week we expanded the Bargain Wall, ordered more post card flyers, identified new local contacts to increase our visibility, cleared the display area in order to reopen our 3rd check out center, noted the website pages that were too long, retrained my son to help with updates and check out, adjusted prices, added more items to our inventory, added new consigners, organized the bulletin board area and made room for more shelves!!
