It has been two years since my mother went home to be with the Lord, and I still can hear her voice and laughter, her stern warning, her encouraging words, her silent or even verbal “veras!” which in Spanish means, “you see” or the old famous “I told you so”.
In my minds eye, I can see her smile, her frown, her disappointment, her affection, her acceptance, her disapproval.
Yes, at 50 I can still hear and see all those famous looks and phrases. My sister & I have used them over and over when situations remind us of what she would say and how she would express them through non verbal body language. We have her down pat!
Yes, among all those memories of laughter and pain, I remember YOU,
M-O-T-H-E-R, S. Barrett.
To all the Moms, Happy Mother’s Day!!
May God give you extra special memories this Mother’s Day 2014.
